Las Vegas Home Rentals - The House I Rent is in Foreclosure and Being Auctioned Off?

las vegas home rentals

Las Vegas Home Rentals -  My wife and I had been getting letters from a mortgage company that we always returned to sender because the owner no longer lives here (Las Vegas, NV). We had no idea what was going on until we came home one day and found a letter taped to the door that said the house was in foreclosure. We took the letter to the rental company and they said they would get to the bottom of it. We haven’t heard from the rental company since. Our lease expired on Oct 31st and since the rental company couldn’t locate the owner (I found her she lives in Illinois) of the house they put us on a month by month lease. We received a letter from the mortgage company a few days ago (I opened it even though it wasn’t addressed to me and yeah yeah yeah I knew it was wrong but I was really scared that I’m going to loose the house). I read the letter and it said the house has been foreclosed upon and it will be auctioned off on Dec 4th at 10am. I’m scared that I will be homeless in about 2 weeks. I lost my job about a month ago and my wife is still working. We don’t have the money to deal with this. What are my options? How did the rental company not know the house was in foreclosure? What recourse do I have with the rental company? What do i do las vegas nv rentals?

I am sorry about your situation but what happens will depend on the new owners. If they do not want to rent to you, your then current lease will end. But there is a good chance that they will rent to you if you have been current with the rent. You probably do not have any recourse to the rental company as they are just the agent and are employed to do the administration on behalf of the owner. They might be able to find another home for you, though.

I am so sorry for your situation. It is incredibly rude and disrespectful of of the homeowner to do this to you and your family.
I would get in touch with the rental company ASAP and let them know that they need to transfer whatever deposit you had on the previous house to a new house and that they need to relocate you in less than two weeks. If they do not have the deposit held for you, then scrimp, save, sell whatever you can.
Rental company is not responsible for paying the mortgage, they are only responsible for collecting rent and managing the property.
