Las Vegas Vacation Home Rentals – Las Vegas Trip with Family- Help?
Las Vegas Vacation Home Rentals - I am traveling to Vegas(from Chicago) in July with my family and the in-laws. So it will be 4 adults and 2 kids (3 and 1). Two more if my parents decide to come along as well. Are there hotels that can accommodate all these people? Or is home rental a better value? Cost and logistic is pretty daunting to me. If you have experience with rentals in Las Vegas NV and trips like this, please give me some advice. Thanks!
My wife and I’ve been to Vegas before and we’ll stay with the kids. We’re acting as tour guides for our parents.

the golden nugget, the monte carlo and actually a lot more of the other hotels, too like mgm and luxor can accomodate all the people you listed.
the oreleans and south point have movie theaters.
i guess it all depends on what you want to do when you get there.
Getting two hotel rooms will be cheaper than renting a house. There are lots of hotels on and off the strip.
The most popular kids friendly hotel is Vegas is Circus Circus hotel with it’s Adventuredome which is an indoor theme park. The Excalibur comes in close second.
Stay on the Vegas strip if you can. Book directly from the hotels using discount promo codes. Here are a few:
As far as entertaining kids are concerned, there are lots of attractions and activities in Las Vegas.
Here is a list
Hope this helps
A regular hotel room could not comfortably accomidate 6 people. You can try a suite, but those will most likely be tight also.
The Luxor has spa suites which could comfortably hold 3 people, and they are not very expensive. So if you go 2 of them it would still probably be cheaper then renting a house for a week. But check craigslist if you want…
The best link for information is which is Channel 8′s web site.
The famous Vegas Strip is an adult playground so it is not structured for people under 21, especially those as your as the ones you will be bringing. You could make arrangements with most hotel casinos for a large suite of several rooms to accomodate the group. Some have kitchen facilities, too.
The issue is what to do with the kids when the grownups want to go to a show or gamble. Either an adult will need to stay with them or you will need to make arrangements with the hotel to find a child care provider (not a normal part of their amenities) during your visit. Children cannot be in the casino or most showrooms or clubs and some restaurants. They are allowed under supervision (natural at that age) to be near the pool or the cafes.
Years ago the Hilton had a Youth Hostel portion but not sure if it is still available and what ages they would serve.
Even most local places do not have accomodations like child care. The South Coast, Orleans, and Gold Coast have bowling and movies, but not something little ones enjoy. Sorry!
But away from The Strip is a regular city, as short of distance as 10 miles. We have parks and schools and churchs and neighborhood communities.
Renting a house could solve the problem BUT be careful. It depends on where in town the rental is and you definitely will need at least one rental since the bus system is limited and taxi are very expensive and don’t go much into residential areas. Also know that house rentals by statute can no longer be less than thirty-days, to prevent the use of the homes for illegal purposes or party houses.
Further with the foreclosure economy, rentals could be scams and you could find an eviction notice on the door unless you go through a local realtor, etc. You should carefully look at any house with a pool for obvious safety reasons. I would say that any house I would rent would not be in the area of The Strip, rather in areas like Green Valley/Henderson (a drive); Picolle Ranch, Rhoads Ranch, The Lakes, Summerlin (a drive). The Green Valley Ranch and Texas have a day care center in the facility and perhaps Red Rock Resorts, all Stations casinos and local favorites.
Personally I live in Vegas and would not rent anything within walking distance of The Strip.
Sorry to be a downer but fact is fact. Good luck
Vegas is one huge hotel room. Yes, you can find many hotels that will handle you.
I like MGM and of course, there’s the Bellagio. Nice.
Go to Nora’s at least once (off the strip) 6020 W. Flamingo.
Your parents will be blown away that you know of an off-strip restaurant that is so good.
