Have you tried? It’s a broker type site, you put in your location and dates and they search hundreds of different suppliers for you. The cheapest rates are shown first. Pretty nice!:)
dollar and thrifty are the lest expensive ones.
they have a shuttle from the airport to the rental site. it is free.
no free gas.
Don’t rent a car at the airport. They’re twice as expensive. Enterprise was the cheapest I found right off the strip in the Westin. It was about $35 for the day with unlimited miles. They’ll also pick you up.
Heather– the best rates ARE AT THE AIRPORT. I just rented from Dollar at it 15$ a day.
And yes, typically Dollar and Thrifty have the best rates. Avoid Ace or payless. They are cheap but unrealiable.
You can check and compare rates at each web site… hertz.com, thrifty.com, avis.com, budget.com, etc.
I’ve found that the best strategy is to join their “special membership” frequent renter club, which is free, but saves you lots of time. Budget’s club is called Rapid Rez, Hertz has “#1 Club”, Thrifty’s is “Blue Chip”.
There are constant shuttles from the airport to the rent a car center. If you join the frequent renter club then you won’t have to wait on line at the car rental office; you go directly to the parking lot, sign the contract and drive away. Without the club membership you might have to wait a half hour to an hour on line.
You know how some people can make a withdrawal at an ATM in 20 seconds, and others stand there screwing around for 5 minutes? Car rentals are the same way. One kind of customer walks up with license and credit card and confirmation number in hand and drives away 3 minutes later, while another kind of customer stands there for 20 minutes asking questions “what’s LDW? Do I need LDW? Do I need to buy liability insurance? What if the car breaks down? Where can I get gas? …….”
Car rental rates have gone way up. Give Fox a shot. Their cars have a few more miles on them, but the rates are usually better.
