Rental Cars Las Vegas - Rental Age / Limitations of Renting a Car in Las Vegas, NV?
Rental Cars Las Vegas - Hi,
I plan on going on a trip next summer to Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Diego. We were thinking of driving, but we live about 1500 miles from Vegas and would like to avoid it. Also, time is a factor, so we were thinking we would fly to Vegas, then drive to LA and SD over the course of 7-10 days. We are both going to be 22. Am I going to be able to rent a car in Las Vegas without being 25? Also, if so, are there major surcharges which would negate the point of doing so?
Thanks las vegas nv rentals.
Seeing as you do not have to be 25, as I am renting a car in Dallas, TX in December for 20 bucks over the normal 20 dollar charge, It is possible. Anyone aware of the Nevada rates if this exists? The laws change state my state.

You have to be 25 to rent a car in the USA.
Look at bus/train schedules with Amtrak. And LA metro and San deigo’s bus system. They’re all pretty cheap. You might want to think about a cheap flight to LA too.
You must be 25 to rent a car.
Las Vegas is no different than anywhere else in the country. Car rental companies require you to be 25 to rent a car. In some instances, they will rent to you if you are between 21 and 25, but there is a substantial surcharge for that. (They call it an “age differential charge”)
You must be 25 to rent a car but you can drive it if under 25 with the extra charge. In other words someone 25 or older has to rent the car but you can drive it as long as that person is in the car. It is insurance companies that require the 25 and older and not state law.
The surcharges for 21-24 year olds are typically “only” $15-20/day. When I was younger I encountered one that was $25/day, have never seen one higher than that. And these are company specific fees, they don’t have anything to do with the law. It’s just a surcharge for more “dangerous drivers.” Just check the web-site of the company you want to rent from.
I searched for Las Vegas specifically with regards to the underage fee. For Thrifty, I could find no information on what the underage fee is, just that there would be one. Avis and Hertz charge an extra $27 per day to rent between 21 and 25; Budget, Dollar, Alamo and National charge an extra $25 per day and Enterprise charges an extra $15 per day.
